rugs R us

Julianna and I found the most unusual rugs last week. We were in this really cool furniture store in Seattle and I've got to show you how cool the materials are. One looked liked hundreds of colored marshmallows, another were thousands of zippers, and one looked like hardwood but was really a combo of leather and cow hide. Check them out. The picture of the honey comb looking thing is a very unique wood framed lamp. I liked it a lot. The last shot is of the showroom space. I liked the elements to it. Concrete floors and ceilings, large corner windows with lots of little framework and a cool spot perched on a hill side right by Pikes Place Market.

Mmm... This is good!

I walked into the garage and was puzzled. Apparently we have a scaredy cat in the building. This guy was scared he was to close to the wall when he was parking his car and just stopped and left. I stood down there waiting for a few minutes to see if the guy was still down there somewhere because I really couldn't believe he had finished parking and actually left his car like that. That's when I decided to bust out the iPhone camera and document this purely amazing parking job. Here you go folks. Also, enjoy the additional photos of some old home videos I found of Jon and I. As you will notice, Jon was having lunch at the time.

FEAST!

If you ever have a chance to get a chair at the table when Nan and Pops have been in the kitchen, you'd better take it! In typical Gaines Kid fashion, we document everything we do with our phones. So... why leave out dinner? Here is a glympse at the damn good dinner we cooked up a few nights ago! MMMMMmmmmm! (also thought it was hilarious that I showed up to dad's house and we both were wearing the same slippers.)

Arty art

The thing I like about art... If you think its' cool, then it is. Here are some of the things I think are cool.

Wants some Vita?

I mentioned in my earlier post that I had found this coffee shop in seattle that knocked my socks off. Here it is. There are a lot of little details that jump out at me in this space. I love the original tile floors entry and then the concrete flooring for the remainder of the area. There are huge, majestic ceilings that expose the frame work and highlight the natural character of the construction. Look at the stools! Can you guess what they are made out of? Yup! this is a good one for sure!

Question... How many of you have moved into a new place or got a new office, set up all your furniture, painted all your walls only to realize something is not complete? Well, I'll tell you what it is. You've gotta have the PLANTS! This posting is dedicated to the "feng shui" style of planter boxes and plant gardens I've seen in the last few days that I think are very rad. Enjoy!

Soooo... Sydney's (My favorite coffee shop) closes it's doors Friday. What to do now? I know! Find a new favorite shop! How about this one??? LEFT BANK PROJECT. This building has it going on!!

Nice, Nice, Nice Nice...

Nan and I went on a quest for luxury on our trip last week to Seattle. The plan was to dive into the city and find all the hidden pockets of good architecture and design in order to locate the perfect place for her to call home. Along the way we found Hotel Max! We had a blast with this place! Check out how rad the keys fobs are! Naked Butts! The mood was sexy swanky. We thought it was a really creative idea to put b/w photos on all the doors. We loved the feel of the hallways and the choices for the bedding and room furniture.

We found good art in the showroom for "Sculpture Park". Then took the underground bus to Pioneer Square to find some of the cities most impressive loft spaces. Keep tuned for pics from my new fave coffee shop. They brew some good beans...Vita! Holla!
